Power Loss due to Shafting :
- Shaft power losses reduce the effective power delivered to the pump bowls.
- Shaft power is also called absorbed power.
- It is the actual power required at the coupling or shaft.
- This power is higher than hydraulic power because it includes mechanical losses.
Uses :
- The pump shaft transmits drive torque to the impellers in centrifugal pumps.
- Used to estimate total motor load accurately.
Formula :
-
Power Loss due to Shafting = Unit Power Loss × Setting from Head Base to Top of Bowls
How to Calculate ?
- Enter the unit power loss (hp/ft).
- Enter the setting from head base to top of bowls (ft).
- Click “Calculate” to get the result.
- Click “Reset” to clear all values.
