Total Thrust Acting on Driver Thrust Bearing

Bowl Thrust Factor lbs/ft
Total Dynamic Head ft
Shaft Weight lbs/ft
Setting from Head Base to Top of Bowls ft
Result lbs

Definition :

  • Bearings that locate the rotor axially are called thrust bearings.
  • They resist axial (thrust) loads acting along the shaft.
  • Total thrust is the resultant axial force acting on the pump rotor.
  • Thrust bearings prevent axial movement and protect rotating equipment.

Uses :

  • Support axial thrust in vertical and horizontal shaft systems.
  • Maintain correct rotor position inside the casing.
  • Absorb axial thrust generated during pump operation.

Formula :

  • Total Thrust = (Bowl Thrust Factor × Total Dynamic Head) + (Shaft Weight × Setting Length)

How to Calculate ?

  • Enter the bowl thrust factor.
  • Enter the total dynamic head.
  • Enter the shaft weight.
  • Enter the setting length.
  • Click “Calculate” to get total thrust.
  • Click “Reset” to clear all values.
